The Kirk Session is delighted to announce that we are in the process of preparing St. Nicholas to re-open for in-person worship on Sunday 13th of June. The maximum amount of people allowed in the building at any one time is 50 due to the 2m social-distancing rule. We do not wish to turn anyone away at the door and therefore we will be working with a booking system on a first-come-first-serve basis. Once a particular Sunday is fully booked, you will be given the option to book for the next Sunday. We will only be taking bookings week-by-week. Please contact Mrs. Carol Ewing to book a place from a Monday to a Wednesday between office hours of 9am-11am, on Mobile phone: 07862 953847 or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Things will look a little bit different than normal: we will all need to wear face coverings for the entire service; hand sanitisers will be available at the door and a duty elder will show you where to sit, as the inside of the church has been prepared with signs and markers of where to sit (which may mean that you won’t be able to sit in your usual spot) and which doors and exits to use.
The service will also be recorded for those who will not be able to be in church, and will be made available on Youtube, Facebook and the Website, by a Sunday evening and DVD’s are still available on request.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Rev. Hanneke on 01506 206045 or email@example.com or your district elder, and we would be happy to assist you with any questions or queries.
STRATHBROCK PARISH CHURCH
Prayer for this week: ‘Loving God, in this hour, in this day, in this week – show us who you truly are. Remind us of your grace and mercy. You are our strength in times of trouble, our joy in days of gladness and our hope for a brighter future. May all our words, actions and intentions glorify your Holy Name as you guide us along the paths of life, Holy Spirit. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Intimations for this week:
Sunday 1 August: Sunday 1 August is Communion Sunday. If you wish to share in worship in St. Nicholas, please book a place. The service will also be recorded and made available to watch on Sunday evening, where you can also share in Communion. Please have your elements ready for this.
The Walking Group: The next walking Group walk will be Saturday 7 August. Please meet us at the Strathbrock Church Hall at 9.30am. We are out for normally approximately a couple of hours and sometimes take a break when and if we find somewhere for refreshment (a tea/coffee mind and bring a face mask just in case we are indoors for this).

Anyone and everyone is invited to come along, and enjoy a picnic and some great activities. If you need further information, please contact Morag Cameron at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Car Treasure Hunt: Would you like to take part in the Car Treasure Hunt? When? Sunday 22nd August. All proceeds will go to the BUSY-Project. To join in this fun event please register with Lynne McEwen email@example.com or Nancy Petrie. firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let us know your name, number of people in your car and a contact telephone number. Cost is £10.00 per car (collected on the day) and this will include refreshments at the end. Please register by the 8th August to book your place. Starting from Strathbrock Church Hall, cars should gather at 2.45pm ready to set off at 3.00pm. Follow the clues, solve the questions and enjoy the route!
Service Recordings: Now that we have the system up and operating, we have to look to the longer term. At the moment, the presentation and recording are operated by Wilson Smith and Harry Macpherson. It would be good to have some backup in the form of more volunteers. There may be some Sundays when Wilson and/or Harry cannot attend. If you would like to help with monitor presentation or the filming, please get in touch with Harry (01506 853215). “Training”, of course, will be provided. Most folk can use a computer and the filming is easily picked up.
Prayer Chain: The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Sheena Carroll 01506 854458.
The Open Door: Open Door is looking for volunteers to join our team. Please do consider and pray about it if you feel this is something you would be interested in. Four more people working twice monthly will enable the Open Door to be open on Fridays as well. Please call in at Open Door for further information if you are willing and able to volunteer.
Travelling Well Bible Study: This will restart in September and will be intimated nearer the time.
The Faith Mission Bookshop: The Faith Mission Bookshop has a new stock of birthday and golden wedding cards. If you require any please contact Myra MacPherson on 01506853215.
The Guild: The Guild Annual Gathering will be held on 4th September 2021 either in the Caird Hill, Dundee or online. I hope we can all see that the Guild is continuing to function during this time and we would welcome your prayers.
Daily Bible Reading Notes: Are you interested in using Daily Bible Reading Notes to help you in your daily walk with Christ? At present several of our church members receive a copy of Every Day with Jesus which is produced by Waverley Abbey Resources. Each issue has daily readings for two months, with a reflection on each reading and other related readings for further study if you wish. Each issue costs £3.49 and the notes come in large print which most of us find useful. If you are interested, we have several back copies which we can let you see so that you can decide if you would like to take the notes. The first opportunity to get them would now be for the September/October edition. We will be delighted to order and distribute copies for all who wish them. Please contact Mary Swarbrick on email@example.com or tel. 01506 856143 and I will glad to add you to the order list or arrange for you to see a copy.
Foodbank: There is an urgent need for tinned potatoes, tinned cold meat, jars of baby food, Domestos, disinfectant, wet dog food and U.H.T. Can you help?
Manse Phone Number: The Strathbrock Manse has a telephone number: 01506 206045, if you need to contact Hanneke.
