STRATHBROCK PARISH CHURCH

This notice contains the information for the church service on Sunday 16 June at 10.30am in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan.

BUSY Prayer Points

Josh Strike, who works with Christians in Sport, is getting involved in some of our BUSY activities. He offers sport activities and is also coming along to Lego Lunch. We hope that he will run some Sporting activities as part of Summer Buzz. Pray for Josh as he shares his faith with others and for young people to come along and that God would prepare them to hear about and respond to God.

Church Services for the month of June in St. Machan Church

For the month of June, we will worship in St. Machan on Sundays 16, 23, 30. Tea and coffee will be served on all Sundays after church.

Sunday 23 June worship will be led by Rev. Douglas Mcnab while Hanneke leads worship in Boghall Parish Church as part of her Interim Moderator duties.

Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Thrift Shop On Friday 28 June from 10am-11.30am in Uphall South church hall.  Clothes, toiletries, kitchenware, ‘bric-a-brac’ etc. Tea and coffee will be served.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting We meet weekly from 2.00 – 3.00 p.m. in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place.  Please consider joining us to pray for our church, community, and wider world.  Prayer requests can also be passed to Myra in church or by phone (853215) and continue to be treated in the strictest confidence.

Prayer Cross is issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.

Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Myra Macpherson on 01506 853215.

UKRAINE/SYRIA As always, so many thanks for all your donations.  Please keep them coming as you empty your wardrobes and drawers.  We will take all you can give.  As of Sunday 12th, we had delivered a wonderful 662 clothes bags and 821 packs of nappies.  For anyone requiring pickups, please just call me on 07546 087230.  I am happy to come. SOYA Many more thanks to all who give in any way to our vulnerable young adults throughout West Lothian. They are so very grateful to us.  Anything you can offer is always gratefully received and passed onto the young folks through West Lothian Social Work department.  Even one or two tins of food, or packets of pasta would be a boon to them, and these can be left in either of the open churches, given to Myra or Evelyn, or left at the Open Door.  For anything at all you can offer, we are so grateful and if anyone needs their donation uplifted, I am very happy to collect. Celebration and Thanksgiving St Machan is 780 years ‘old’ and village school and community hall is 150 years old.

Dates for your diary.  A number of events are planned to celebrate these dates.

Open Days in St Machan Church Friday 23 August 11.00- 20.00 and Saturday 24 August 11.00 – 15.00.  This will include flower display and exhibition with refreshments, admission by donation.

Morning Worship Sunday 25 August at 10.30am – The history of the church

Concert Friday 30 August in the church at 7.30pm

Other Information

Broxburn Baptist Church has organised a coach to go to ‘Billy Graham Ministries God Loves You’ Tour at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday 22nd June, and would like to know if anyone from our Church would like to join them?  The event is fully funded and tickets don’t cost anything.

We will be leaving on a private coach (free of charge) from the Bus Stop at Holmes Park/Skate Park on Goschen Place (the main Bus Stop nearest to our Church) at 3:30pm and will be returning to Broxburn approximately 9:30pm.  They will have 6 Stewards who will ensure everyone’s safe arrival and return on the coach.

Anyone who wishes to go will need to book a place on the coach by calling or messaging me Pastor Donna McCarron-Flynn at 07921 156173.

Sheena Carroll I am very grateful for all ongoing prayers and encouragement being given to me during my recovery.  Thank you all so very much for your concern and support.

Uphall Gala Day will be on Sunday 16 June in King George 5th park.  Parade leaves Wyndford at 12noon. Please take note of road closures in area to get safely back home from St. Machan Church after the service.

Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. More volunteers are needed. Donations needed now at the Foodbank: Rice pudding; Cold Meat; UHT milk; Tea bags; Pot noodles; Washing up liquid; Razors, Tinned Cold Meat, UHT Milk, Multi Surface Wipes, Nappies Size 5,6 &7, Washing Up Liquid, Cleaning Spray

Broxburn & Uphall Museum Because of the forthcoming election the council did not give permission for the opening of the museum in June.  This is now being planned for August as t date to be announced.

Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat.  We need new volunteers please call in for details.

Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland Are offering anyone with a heart or chest condition exercise led by a qualified instructor from St John’s hospital physiotherapist department on Monday evenings from 5.30-6.30pm in Uphall Community centre.  For more information contact Bob McDonald tel. 01506 431950 or email y60rmd@gmail.com.
