STRATHBROCK PARISH CHURCH
This notice contains the information for the church service of 10 April 2022 at 10.30am in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan and important intimations.
Covid-restrictions: The recent changes to Covid-restrictions mean that it is no longer a requirement by law to wear face coverings for worship services. The Strathbrock Kirk Session, however, agreed to request people to keep wearing face-coverings for entering, moving about in, and exiting the church buildings to keep those most vulnerable safe. Once seated face-coverings may be removed. It will be up to an individual to decide whether or not to remove their face-coverings once seated. Hand sanitisers will be available at the doors.
The service will also be recorded for those who will not be able attend church, and will be made available on Youtube, Facebook and the website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Hanneke on email@example.com or 01506 206045 or your district elder, and we would be happy to assist you with any questions or queries.
A Prayer for the sixth week of Lent
A Prayer of Unknowing By Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude, page 79.
‘My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that, if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore, I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone. Amen.’

SQA exams Along with many schools in Scotland, Broxburn Academy will be short of invigilators for the SQA exams this coming May, despite national advertising campaigns to attempt to recruit people. Unlike most other ‘volunteer’ roles, there would be payment! There will also be training provided. The request is quite urgent because any new invigilators will have to complete the PVG process before being allowed to work in Broxburn Academy (and we have just 5 weeks until the start of the exams). I am happy to be a contact for anyone who would like more information about this before they apply – 07540 806359. Susanne Wilson
Wednesday Prayer Meeting Wednesday Prayer Meeting: We continue to meet weekly from 6.00 – 6.45 pm in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place, where you would be warmly welcomed. Prayer requests can be passed to Sheena in church or by phone (854458) and are treated in the strictest confidence.
Prayer Cross Issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church today.
