This notice contains the information for the church service of 11 June 2023 at 10.30am in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall and important intimations.

The service will also be recorded for those who will not be able attend church, and will be made available on Youtube, Facebook and the website. If you would like a copy of the service on DVD, please email the office at

We will continue to worship in St Nicholas in June due to the ongoing work with the heating unit in St Machan.

Intimations for this week:

Session meeting will be held on Tuesday 13 June at 7pm in St Nicholas Church

Bible Reading list from 21 May to 30 July are available in church and as an attachment on this email. Why not meet with a friend or two over a cup of coffee/tea and discuss the text together? You might be surprised by how God speaks to us all in different ways!

Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall – an intergenerational service where we worship God together through songs, prayer, conversations, questions, and activities that involves ALL AGES. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Coffee/Tea after service will be served on Sundays 11, 18, 25 June in St Nicholas

Wednesday Prayer Meeting We continue to meet weekly from 6.00 – 6.45 pm in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place, where you would be warmly welcomed. Prayer requests can be passed to Sheena in church or by phone (854458) and are treated in the strictest confidence.

Travelling Well The two small groups are coming to the end of the 24 studies, “The Acts”.  Our next topic will be an in depth look at the 12 Disciples. If you are interested in joining others to learn more on your faith journey, please contact the Office or speak to Rachel Shepherd or Annette Frater. The Tuesday and Wednesday morning groups will not meet during the holiday period of July and August.  They will resume and continue with “The Twelve Disciples” after the summer break and that will be intimated in due course.

Christian Aid £868 was raised from all events including the quiz which Evelyn McFadyen won.

Upcoming Events

Strawberry Tea on Sunday 11 June at 11am in Ecclesmachan village hall.  Teas are free and there will be craft stalls. All are welcome.

Broxburn Parish Church are holding an afternoon tea on Saturday 17 June from 2-4pm all welcome.

Walking Group will meet in Uphall Community Centre car park on Saturday 24 June at 9.30am.

Strathbrock Church Annual Stated Meeting will be held on Sunday 25 June in St Nicholas church after the morning service.

Tuesday House Group will meet at 2.15pm at usual venue.  The group is also studying Twelve Disciples and the next meeting will be on 27 June.  Bible studies begin in September.

Safeguarding Training Sessions  Safeguarding training Sessions are available for all who need training when working with young people or vulnerable adults. The sessions are for all who need to refresh their training (Trustee) or for those who need to do training for the first time (Introduction).

SOYA Social Work and our SOYA young folks continue to be grateful for your donations of food and toiletries to them over what has been a really difficult winter.  Please continue to leave your donations either in church or in the Open Door. Thank You.

The Girls’ Brigade has finished now until August.

The Boys’ Brigade has finished now until September.

Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat.  We are in need of new volunteers please call in for details.

Prayer Cross Issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.

Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Sheena Carroll 01506 854458.

Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. Volunteers are needed for the Thursday. Please get in touch with the foodbank if you want to volunteer. Our present needs are , tinned cold meat, curry sauce, rice pudding, long grain rice, toilet rolls, custard, diluting juice (1l + 1.5l)

Please leave in the Open Door or in whichever church is open.

With the food with which they are supplied, some of our clients do not have enough strong carrier bags. If you have any spare STRONG carrier bags you can donate, please pass to Myra, Harry, the Church or the Open  Door. Thanks

Bottle tops and stamps are still being received for recycling please leave in church or the open door.
