This notice contains the information for the church service on Sunday 9 June at 10.30am in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan.

BUSY Prayer Points

Hannah is going to visit all S1 classes at the Academy to tell them about BUSY and to advertise our Summer Buzz events. Give thanks for the warm welcome BUSY continues to have in school and the enthusiasm for working with us. Pray that the visits will encourage some of the young people to come along to the events and can find out more about God.

Church Services for the month of June in St. Machan Church

For the month of June, we will worship in St. Machan on Sundays 9, 16, 23, 30. Tea and coffee will be served on all Sundays after church.

Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Thrift Shop On Friday 28 June from 10am-11.30am in Uphall South church hall.  Clothes, toiletries, kitchenware, ‘bric-a-brac’ etc. Tea and coffee will be served.

Guild Syllabus planning meeting Due to poor support this meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday 11 June at 2.30 pm in Open Door.  Wilma Gilchrist Convenor.

Travelling Well Bible Study Groups

We continue our ‘travels’ with the Life Builder Study publication entitled “Parable”, consisting of 12 weekly chapters.

We are two small groups who currently meet on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30, but if you would like to participate and the time is unsuitable, please speak – we may be able to suit your preferred time.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting We meet weekly from 2.00 – 3.00 p.m. in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place.  Please consider joining us to pray for our church, community, and wider world.  Prayer requests can also be passed to Myra in church or by phone (853215) and continue to be treated in the strictest confidence.

Prayer Cross is issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.

Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Myra Macpherson on 01506 853215.

UKRAINE/SYRIA As always, so many thanks for all your donations.  Please keep them coming as you empty your wardrobes and drawers.  We will take all you can give.  As of Sunday 12th, we had delivered a wonderful 662 clothes bags and 821 packs of nappies.  For anyone requiring pickups, please just call me on 07546 087230.  I am happy to come. SOYA Many more thanks to all who give in any way to our vulnerable young adults throughout West Lothian. They are so very grateful to us.  Anything you can offer is always gratefully received and passed onto the young folks through West Lothian Social Work department.  Even one or two tins of food, or packets of pasta would be a boon to them, and these can be left in either of the open churches, given to Myra or Evelyn, or left at the Open Door.  For anything at all you can offer, we are so grateful and if anyone needs their donation uplifted, I am very happy to collect. Afternoon Tea at Broxburn Parish Church on Saturday 15 June 2024. Tickets are available from Sue Sneddon.

Uphall Gala Day will be on Sunday 16 June in King George 5th park.  Parade leaves Wyndford at 12noon. Please take note of road closures in area to get safely back home from St. Machan Church after the service.

Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. More volunteers are needed. Donations needed now at the Foodbank: Rice pudding; Cold Meat; UHT milk; Tea bags; Pot noodles; Washing up liquid; Razors

Broxburn & Uphall Museum Are looking for people to donate objects with a story to tell to display in the museum.  Objects or photos could be made in Broxburn or Uphall, owned or used by someone of local significance, or associated with a local business or local story! To get in touch email or contact Sybil Cavanagh. Thank you to those who have donated to the museum.  The opening date (tbc) is planned for end of June.

Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat.  We need new volunteers please call in for details.

Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland Are offering anyone with a heart or chest condition exercise led by a qualified instructor from St John’s hospital physiotherapist department on Monday evenings from 5.30-6.30pm in Uphall Community centre.  For more information contact Bob McDonald tel. 01506 431950 or email
