This notice contains the information for the church service on Sunday 23 June at 10.30am in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan.

Intimations for this week:


BUSY Prayer Points We would love to see some our young people getting involved in leading the holiday club. Some of the regular BUSY young people came to holiday club when they were in primary school. Pray that they are able to commit to coming along for the week of holiday club and will grow as young leaders as part of the experience.


Prayer for our Primary Schools Please pray that our primary school children and teachers will have a wonderful holiday starting Friday 29 June and that all teachers, children and their families will be safe – whether they are travelling or staying home over the summer.


Church Services for the month of June in St. Machan Church

For the month of June, we will worship in St. Machan on Sundays 23, 30. Tea and coffee will be served on all Sundays after church.


Sunday 23 June worship will be led by Rev. Douglas McNab while Hanneke leads worship in Boghall Parish Church as part of her Interim Moderator duties.


Church Services for the month of July in St. Nicholas Church

For the month of July, we will celebrate comminution on Sunday 7 July and worship in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall, on Sundays 7, 14, 21, 28.


Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Wednesday Prayer Meeting We meet weekly from 2.00 – 3.00 p.m. in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place.  Please consider joining us to pray for our church, community, and wider world.  Prayer requests can also be passed to Myra in church or by phone (853215) and continue to be treated in the strictest confidence.


General Election.  Pray that Churches will work together to facilitate and host husting events, gathering local people to hear and question those seeking to represent them in Parliament. Please bless each endeavour.

Pray that political broadcasts, question times and TV debates will provide opportunities for party leaders to present their proposals clearly and honestly as we consider our choices for the ballot box.


Prayer Cross is issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.

Ukraine/Syria. Once again, so many heartfelt thanks for the continuing  clothing, shoes and suitcase donations towards the Ukraine/Syria refugee camps. We are so pleased to be able to note that by Sunday 16 June, we have now delivered 692 refuse sacks full, plus 832 packs of nappies (as well as a large amount of suitcases of all shapes and sizes).

SOYA Thank you all, as always, for your wonderful donations to SOYA for the vulnerable young adults throughout West Lothian.  On 14 June, Social Work Department collected 22 very heavy bags of foodstuffs and toiletries, as well as 28 boxes of Women’s sanitary products (which we reckon would be somewhere around 350 packs in total). Thrift Shop On Friday 28 June from 10am-11.30am in Uphall South church hall.  Clothes, toiletries, kitchenware, ‘bric-a-brac’ etc. Tea and coffee will be served. The next thrift shop will be on Friday 27 September.


Celebration and Thanksgiving St Machan is 780 years ‘old’ and village school and community hall is 150 years old.

Dates for your diary.  A number of events are planned to celebrate these dates.

Open Days in St Machan Church Friday 23 August 11.00- 20.00 and Saturday 24 August 11.00 – 15.00.  This will include flower display and exhibition with refreshments, admission by donation.

Morning Worship Sunday 25 August at 10.30am – The history of the church

Concert Friday 30 August in the church at 7.30pm

Strawberry Tea in village hall Saturday 31 August

Broxburn Parish are having a coffee morning on Saturday 6 July.


Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. More volunteers are needed. Donations needed now at the Foodbank: Rice pudding; Cold Meat; UHT milk; Tea bags; Pot noodles; Washing up liquid; Razors, Tinned Cold Meat, UHT Milk, Multi Surface Wipes, Nappies Size 5,6 &7, Washing Up Liquid, Cleaning Spray


Broxburn & Uphall Museum Because of the forthcoming election the council did not give permission for the opening of the museum in June.  This is now being planned for August as t date to be announced.


Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat.  We need new volunteers please call in for details.


Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland Are offering anyone with a heart or chest condition exercise led by a qualified instructor from St John’s hospital physiotherapist department on Monday evenings from 5.30-6.30pm in Uphall Community centre.  For more information contact Bob McDonald tel. 01506 431950 or email
