This notice contains the information for the church service of 16 October 2022 at 10.30am in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan and important intimations.
Covid-restrictions: It is no longer a requirement by law to wear face coverings for worship services but if you feel you want to continue to wear them, please do. Hand sanitisers will be available at the doors.
The service will also be recorded for those who will not be able attend church, and will be made available on Youtube, Facebook and the website. BUSY Prayer – Please pray for Hannah and a group of S4-S6’s who are attending the Scripture Union ‘Go Conference’ as they explore Christianity with a larger group of youngsters from across Scotland, gathering this weekend at Lendrick Muir.
Church Services for October in St. Machan For the month of October, we will worship in St. Machan Church, Ecclesmachan, on Sundays 16, 23, 30 October.

Early Service – a different start to a Sunday
Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall, Strathbrock and Uphall South Churches are joining in a grand new adventure, called ‘The Early Service’ – an intergenerational service where we worship God together through songs, prayer, conversations, questions, and activities that involves ALL AGES. Everyone and anyone are welcome!
Bible Reading From October month onwards we are going to have a Bible Reading list with one Bible text for every week, and we will read that Bible text that will be preached on the Sunday, every day during the week prior to a Sunday morning, by using the Lectio Divina reading method. Then on the Sunday, we will read it together in Church as well and listen to reflections on the text. You will see an extra attachment here which you can click on with information about Bible reading at home. We have also produced a paper copy you can pick up in church today if you would prefer.
Harvest Service Sunday 23rd October 2022 gifts of food for Soya and the Food Bank will be gratefully received, Flowers will also be distributed to the house bound, and will be most welcome.
The Guild Autumn Rally on Sunday 16 October at 2.30pm in Brucefield, Whitburn. The speaker is Lauren Petherbridge from Christian Aid. We will then hear from Steven Turnbull on Tuesday 18th October in the Open Door at 2.30pm speaking about growing for the Foodbank.
West Lothian SU You are invited to the West Lothian SU Prayer meeting on Monday 24th October at 7.30pm in The Open Door. Gavin Thomson, SU’s regional worker, will give us an update on what is going on in the local area and there will be time to pray for the work. All are welcome.
Strathbrock Kirk Session The Strathbrock Kirk Session will meet on Tuesday 25 October at 7pm in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall.
Travelling Well You are invited to join in Travelling Well. We are currently two small friendly groups who meet on a Tuesday and a Wednesday morning for Bible Study. At the moment we are looking at The Acts of the Apostles. If you would like to join us but the days/times are unsuitable, don’t let that stop you. We will try to accommodate you by changing the time or starting an additional group.

Christmas Fair with refreshments and stalls will be held in Uphall South Church Hall on Saturday 3rd December from 10 until 1pm. If you would be willing to bake for this or contribute to stalls – crafts, jewellery, knitting, marmalade, chutney, Christmas gifts, toiletries etc. please speak to Myra or Sandra Darby. Further intimations will follow. If anyone has any unwanted jewellery and empty jewellery boxes, please will you hand to Myra Macpherson or Corinne Nairn. We appreciate your kindness.
The Girls’ Brigade has restarted at 6.30pm on Monday nights in Uphall South Church hall. All girls welcome
The Boys’ Brigade has restarted at 6.00pm on Thursday nights in Uphall South Church hall.
Tuesday House group has restarted on Tuesday at 2.15pm using ‘Decisions from life skills series.’

Wednesday Prayer Meeting Wednesday Prayer Meeting: We continue to meet weekly from 6.00 – 6.45 pm in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place, where you would be warmly welcomed.
Prayer Cross Issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church today.
Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Sheena Carroll 01506 854458.
Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. Our present needs are tins of custard, rice puddings, noodles, vegetable stock cubes, UHT milk, toilet rolls, Domestos and spray disinfectant. Please leave in the Open Door or in whichever church is open.
