In the new year we will continue looking at The Acts of the Apostles. Please feel free to join us. If the days/times are a barrier, don’t let that stop you. We will try to accommodate you by changing the time or starting an additional group. Please contact Rachel Shepherd on 01506 855293 if you are interested.
SOYA CHRISTMAS Social Work and our young folks continue to be so grateful for the food and toiletry donations they receive from you throughout the year, especially so in these pretty difficult times of rising prices, for you as well as for the youngsters in the project. Any gifts or donations will be greatly appreciated. We would love to give a Christmas gift bag, as well as a Christmas Day food bag to 100 youngsters, ie. 50 boys and 50 girls aged between 16-21. Each gift bag will include a woolly hat, scarf, gloves or socks; boxed toiletry set; for girls a piece of jewellery and for boys some kind of novelty item (eg. torch, small tool set); for girls some cosmetics and for boys perhaps a fancy mug filled with individual cappuccino/chocolate etc sachets; a small box/packet of chocolates/sweets.
Please may I stress the following: all gifts must be new, unused; they must not include anything that could be used to hurt either themselves or others; they must not be gift wrapped, as I need to confirm to Social Work that there is nothing hurtful or injurious in our donations.
If donations could be left at St Nicholas church, Open Door, or – if not possible- call me to collect, that would be wonderful. But in any case, I would be grateful for all donations by the last Sunday in November (27th). I am hoping that our SOYAfunds will be able to cope with the Christmas Day food, but if anyone would prefer to help with that rather than the gift bags, please call me on 07546087230.
With thanks, Evelyn McFadyen
