Christian Aid Week 2021: Christian Aid week is from the 10th – 16th May 2021, & they have suggested the following daily readings for us:

The Open Door: The Open Door has re-opened its Café. Monday-Thursday from 10am-1pm. Government guidelines are being followed. We look forward to seeing you for our homebaking, filled rolls, toasties and we continue our soup on Mondays. There is a large selection of greetings cards. Something new: jigsaws are being sold in support of BUSY. All are welcome!

Dolls’ Clothes for charity: One of our members and her sister are knitting dolls’ clothes for a cancer charity, dolls of 16″ and 18″ are £6 for set of three items (items include hat gloves socks frock trousers jumper, cardigan). Do you have any small buttons, small amounts of 3ply, 4ply or double knitting wool and would like to donate them to this project, if so please leave them in the Open Door.

Foodbank: There is an urgent need for tinned potatoes, tinned cold meat, jars of baby food, Domestos, disinfectant, wet dog food and U.H.T. Can you help?

Travelling Well Bible Study: If you would like to join us or would like a copy of the book to study as an individual please contact Rachel Shepherd on or by phone on 855293.

Ancre Somme Association: Ancre Somme Association hope to install a memorial to all animals lost in wars  and would like purple poppies to be knitted. Patterns are on Youtube and the deadline is August. With planning permission the memorial will be at bottom of Ecclesmachan Road. Further details from Mary Watson or Myra Macpherson.

SOYA: Please remember the young folk of SOYA, particularly at this time of sadness and constraint for us all. Evelyn is still very happy to collect any donations of food and toiletries, either from Margaret Forisky, Myra Macpherson or by calling Evelyn on 202642 to collect.  However, if you are worried about personal contact please be aware that we do have a bank account for SOYA.  Should you prefer to offer monetary donation, either by standing order or as a one-off, the bank details are given below.
