This notice contains the information for the church service of 26 March 2023 at 10.30am in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall and important intimations.

BUSY Prayer Points

That we would see an increase in the number of younger kids we see at BUSY.

Church Services for March in St. Nicholas For the month of March, we will worship in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall, on Sunday 26 March.

Communion We will celebrate Holy Communion during morning worship on Sunday 2 April in St. Nicholas Church. If you are watching the recording of the service later, please ensure you have your elements of bread and wine ready.

Coffee/Tea after service In St Nicholas on Sunday 26 March.  In the month of April coffee & tea will be serviced on Sundays 9, 16, 23, 30 April

Bible Reading list from 20 March to 14 May are available from today in church and as an attachment on this email.

Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall – an intergenerational service where we worship God together through songs, prayer, conversations, questions, and activities that involves ALL AGES. Everyone and anyone are welcome!

Wednesday sessions will not change

We will meet on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 8.30pm or on Tuesdays from 10.30am to 11.30am in the Church/Church Hall. You do not have to come to all 5 meetings – just come when you can. If you are interested in attending these conversations, please contact Anne Gunn or David McWilliams  with your preferred choice of Tuesday mornings or Wednesday evenings.

The Guild We will meet on 4 April in the Open Door at 2.30pm.  We will find out some of the work The Brock does which is the garden centre behind the Strathbrock Health Centre. All welcome

Joint Day of Prayer The three churches in Uphall and Broxburn (Strathbrock, Uphall South and Broxburn Parish Churches) will share a joint Day of Prayer with The Very Revd John Christie in Uphall South Church Hall on Saturday 22 April 10am-12.30pm. Please come join us in prayer as we look toward the future.

Broxburn Baptist Church Coffee Mornings Every last Thursday of the month at 10.30am in Broxburn Baptist Church.

Travelling Well The two small groups are coming to the end of the 24 studies, “The Acts”.  We have yet to decide on our next topic.

If you are interested in joining others to learn more on your faith journey please contact the Office or speak to Rachel Shepherd or Annette Frater.  If you would like more information about Travelling Well Rachel and Annette would be pleased to discuss.

We expect to begin our new session in the week commencing 23 April 2023.

SOYA Social Work and our SOYA young folks continue to be grateful for your donations of food and toiletries to them over what has been a really difficult winter.  Please continue to leave your donations either in church or in the Open Door. Thank You.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting We continue to meet weekly from 6.00 – 6.45 pm in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place, where you would be warmly welcomed. Prayer requests can be passed to Sheena in church or by phone (854458) and are treated in the strictest confidence.

The Girls’ Brigade on Monday nights in Uphall South Church Hall at 6.30pm.  All girls welcome.  But will be on holiday on 3 & 10 April

The Boys’ Brigade  at 6.00pm on Thursday nights in Uphall South Church Hall. But will be on holiday on 6 & 13 April

Aid for Ukraine, Turkey and Syria.

Very grateful thanks to all who have offered warm clothes, etc for Ukraine over the past weeks.  Given the further urgent need in both Turkey and Syria, as well as the continuing need in Ukraine, our Edinburgh charity has now made arrangements to divide what they receive among the three areas of need.  Whatever they receive will be despatched as soon as possible and will include, as well as warm clothes for all ages and sizes, boots, welly boots and shoes, also for all ages and sizes.

Please leave as before in either church or in Open Door cafe and If anyone requires articles uplifted, please call me on 07546 087230.

Tuesday House Group has resumed at 2.15pm at usual venue on 28 March

Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat.

Prayer Cross Issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.

Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Sheena Carroll 01506 854458.

Flower calendars If you wish to donate flowers and have a particular Sunday on the calendar, please contact Dinah or Alison or write your name on the calendar on the noticeboard.

Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. Volunteers are needed for the Thursday. Please get in touch with the foodbank if you want to volunteer. Our present needs are tins of custard, rice puddings, noodles, vegetable stock cubes, UHT milk, toilet rolls, Domestos and spray disinfectant.  Please leave in the Open Door or in whichever church is open.

Bottle tops and stamps are still being received for recycling please leave in church or the open door.
