B.U.S.Y Prayer Points
Thank God for Summer Buzz and for the many opportunities to engage with the young people. Thank God to for safety as we met and travelled. Pray that our young people will continue to develop the relationships begun and that they will be open to hear more of God’s love for them.
Church Service for August in St. Machan For the month of August we will worship in St. Machan 27 August.
Church Services for September in St. Nicholas For the month of September, we will celebrate comminution on Sunday 3 September and worship in St. Nicholas Church, Uphall, on Sundays 3, 10, 17, 24 September.
Bible Reading list from 6 August to 1 October are available in church and as an attachment on this email. Why not meet with a friend or two over a cup of coffee/tea and discuss the text together? You might be surprised by how God speaks to us all in different ways!
Early Service – a different start to a Sunday Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall – an intergenerational service where we worship God together through songs, prayer, conversations, questions, and activities that involves ALL AGES. Everyone and anyone are welcome!
Coffee/Tea after service will be served in St Nicholas on Sunday 10, 17, 24 September
Wednesday Prayer Meeting – On Wednesdays from 6.00 – 6.45 pm in the Uphall Community Centre, School Place, where you would be warmly welcomed. Prayer requests can be passed to Sheena in church or by phone (854458) and are treated in the strictest confidence.

Strathbrock Parish Church Walking Group Will meet on Saturday 2 September at 09.30-9.35 in Uphall Community Centre car park.
We are generally back in Uphall by 12.30 or before, perhaps having had a coffee stop, depending on where we have been walking. Occasionally we may take cars to a starting point for our walk, generally speaking we like to walk fairly locally.
The Girls’ Brigade Will resume on Monday nights in Uphall South Church Hall at 6.30pm on Monday 28 August. All girls welcome.
Guild Annual Gathering Saturday 9 September 11.00am – 4.00pm (approx). The speakers include the Moderator Rev. Sally Foster-Fulton. And Jason Leitch CBE the clinical director. I have extra tickets. Please let me know by Sunday 27 August if you would like to go. Wilma Gilchrist
Crafters De Stash Sale. Is being held on Saturday 30th September in the Strathbrock Partnership Community Wing from 11am until 2pm. Tables are £10 each and money raised will go to a charity called ‘A Child In The Rough’.
This sale is for any crafters who would like to relieve themselves of some of their own accumulated stashes of crafting materials or crafters wishing to pick up bargains would be welcome to come along. To reserve a table contact Carole MacBride on 07909582760.
UKRAINE/SYRIAN UPDATE Thank you yet again for your wonderful donations which we deliver weekly to our Edinburgh charity. The total delivered to date (with some awaiting delivery on Sunday) is an amazing 376 refuse sacks and 416 packs of nappies. Because of the generosity of the people of Uphall and Broxburn, a large container full of donations of clothes, shoes, nappies, hand knits left Edinburgh on Wednesday 16th to begin its journey to a Syrian refugee camp on the Lebanese border. Thank you. Please keep donations coming when you can and as always, we are very happy to collect from homes (tel. 07546 087230) or collect from the Open Door. Evelyn.
SOYA Recently there has been a wonderful upsurge in the number of donations, both of purchased items and of money which has allowed a greater than usual number of bags to be passed to Social Work for our young people. We are especially grateful for these contributions at such a time of constantly rising prices in our supermarkets. Thank you so much. Donations can continue to be left in the open church or in the Open Door for collection.
Museum – Uphall and Broxburn One of the projects of the Broxburn & Uphall Town Centre Management Group is the establishment / extension of a local museum. This project is being led by Emma Peattie from the Museum and Archive service of West Lothian Council. Emma attended the Council of Churches meeting to share information about a new interactive display unit to be installed in the museum area of Strathbrock Partnership. If you would be willing to be interviewed, have any photographs, or artefacts, or questions please speak to Sybil Cavanagh in the first instance. Meeting for further details will be held in the near future please let Sybil know if you are interested in attending.
Open Door Monday to Thursday 10am until 1pm. Please join us and bring a friend for coffee and a chat. We are in need of new volunteers please call in for details.
Prayer Cross Issued monthly on the 1st Sunday of the month (see attachment). Please use the topics as a guide for prayer throughout the month. If you have difficulty accessing the cross, please contact the office. There are printed copies of the prayer cross available in church.
Prayer Chain The prayer chain is available for urgent requests which are treated in strictest confidence. Please phone Sheena Carroll 01506 854458.
Foodbank Thank you for your continuing donations to the foodbank. The foodbank runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 12.30-2.30pm. Volunteers are needed for the Thursday. Please get in touch with the foodbank if you want to volunteer. Our present needs are , tinned cold meat, curry sauce, rice pudding, long grain rice, toilet rolls, custard, diluting juice (1l + 1.5l)
Please leave in the Open Door or in whichever church is open.
With the food with which they are supplied, some of our clients do not have enough strong carrier bags. If you have any spare STRONG carrier bags you can donate, please pass to Myra, Harry, the Church, or the Open Door. Thanks
Bottle tops and stamps are still being received for recycling please leave in church or the open door.
